How many students have you met that have questioned, been harassed about, or want to learn more about their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression?
Do you ever wish there were something more you could do to help these students through the rough times at school?
Well, we have the perfect answer. The Broward GLBT Youth Group is a tri-county organization, completely run by a youth led board of directors, for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and their straight allies. During our meetings, we discuss current issues affecting our community, as well as personal experiences in school, at work, and at home. Our mission is to create a fun and safe environment free of harassment and ridicule where students can be themselves and meet other youth just like themselves.
Some examples of our weekly activities include:

• Movie Nights
• Open Mic Night
• Arts & Crafts and Creative Writing
• Fundraising Events
• Local Guest Speakers
• And much, much more!
We also have some exciting plans for the upcoming year. We are offering for the first time, a Parents Group. This will be for those parents who drop their children off and want stay around and talk with other parents like themselves who are raising GLBT children. This group will be professionally facilitated by SunServe and meet at the same time as the Youth Group, however in a separate room. Also, in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, we will be starting the 1st local GLBT Youth Chorus.
We are also currently in the planning stage for The 2008 GLBT Youth Prom.
Starting September 25th, we will be meeting at our new home, each and every Tuesday night from 7PM to 9PM, at SunServe.
Where We Are Located
SunServe and the Youth Group are located on the Sunshine Cathedral campus on the 2nd floor of the South building behind the green door.

Included with this letter are business cards to pass to students who may have expressed interest in groups such as ours, along with posters to hang in your office or around campus. |
